Suicide is the leading cause of death worldwide. Every two minutes a life is lost to suicide.
World Suicide Prevention Day is an initiative led by the World Health Organization and the International Association for Suicide Prevention to educate the public about suicide and focus attention on prevention efforts around the world.
The Jed Foundation’s It’s On My Mind campaign is contributing to World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10th by hosting a Facebook event where attendees RSVP to use their Facebook status to raise awareness of the importance of suicide prevention. You can help by joining this virtual event and sending the link to your friends and contacts.
Other World Suicide Prevention Day events include a launch event on September 10th at the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. View a full list of events here.
