Special events represent a significant segment of The Jed Foundation's overall fundraising plan. These events also serve to introduce our mission to attendees and raise awarenss of college mental health issues. The Jed Foundation manages these events in a manner that maximizes the impact of your contributions on our programs and services.

The Brightest Night -- Gala Event 2007

Time to Laugh 2006
The Jed Foundation held its Time to Laugh comedy event at Caroline's on Broadway on November 5, 2006. Darrell Hammond, Jessica Kirson, Ted Alexandro, Lisa Lampanelli, David Siegel and host Judy Gold gave us a night to remember. A great time was had by all!
Briefing & Lunch with Congressman Patrick Kennedy
The Jed Foundation, in conjunction with the Suicide Prevention Action Network (SPAN), held an important briefing and special lunch with Congressman Patrick Kennedy on September 7, 2006. Following a compelling speech by Congressman Kennedy, advocates met with their local congressmen to show their support for full appropriations for the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act, which provides campus-based suicide prevention grants, as well as the mental health parity.
Senator Gordon H. Smith Book Discussion & Signing
Senator Gordon H. Smith discussed and signed his new book, "Remembering Garrett: One Family's Battle with a Child's Depression" on Wednesday, April 19th at the Strand Bookstore, with a reception co-hosted by The Jed Foundation. Senator Smith shared the tragic story of losing his son to suicide, his path to becoming an adovcate for suicide prevention, and how funding through the Garrett Lee Smith Memorial Act will provide important opportunities for suicide prevention programming at colleges and universities nationwide.
