We are deeply saddened by the three recent suicides reported in the US, including two high school students in Parkland. Our thoughts and hearts are with the families, friends, classmates, educators and everyone who has been touched by these tragedies during this very difficult time.
When events like this are widely covered in the news, it’s normal to have an emotional reaction, even if you did not know the people involved personally. Suicide can bring up feelings of confusion, guilt, and hopelessness among many others, and it can be especially painful to hear about people who are so young dying by suicide.
Support and resources are available and can make all the difference, but the help doesn’t stop there. It’s so important to check in with someone you’re worried about – it can really help. Suicide is never the answer.
