Webinar: Introducing the Proud and Thriving Framework to Support the Mental Health and Wellbeing of LGBTQ+ Students

LGBTQ+ students experience an elevated risk for negative outcomes, as measured by health and academic factors such as substance misuse, depression, suicide ideation, academic and co-curricular disengagement, and attrition as compared to non-LGBTQ+ peers. Given the central role that schools play in students’ lives—serving as an important environment for academic, social-emotional, and identity development—strengthening their mental health support systems for LGBTQ+ students is critical. The Proud & Thriving Framework was designed to equip high school, college, and university administrators and other key stakeholders with the data and resources they need to strengthen systems of support for high school, college, and university LGBTQ+ students. Join this webinar to learn highlights from our research findings and preview the set of recommendations developed for individuals and for schools to serve as a guide for creating affirming and supportive school environments for LGBTQ+ students and their allies with the goal of leading to better mental health outcomes.
