Robert Rooney Joins Board of Directors of The Jed Foundation

NEW YORK, February 6, 2019–The Jed Foundation (JED), a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting emotional health and preventing suicide for our nation’s teens and young adults, today announced the election of Robert Rooney to its board of directors.

As Global Head of Technology at Morgan Stanley, Rooney oversees the firm’s strategic use of technology to augment the company’s services. Prior to his current role, Rooney was CEO of Morgan Stanley and International Head of EMEA. Between May 2013 and January 2016, Rooney served as the Firm’s Global Co-Head of Fixed Income Sales and Trading.

Rooney joined Morgan Stanley in 1990 and moved to London in 1993. He was elected Managing Director in 2001. He serves on Morgan Stanley’s Operating and Management Committees.

In addition, Rooney is currently Chair of the US-UK Business Council and serves on the Board of Visitors for Columbia College. He received the John Jay Award in 2018, an honor given to distinguished Columbia College alumni. Rooney graduated from Columbia University in 1989 with a BA in Mathematics and History.
