Get to Know Your Emotions

There are many different emotions you can experience from day to day and even hour to hour.  Getting in touch and familiar with some of the most common emotions is an important exercise for teenagers and young adults.  When you are familiar with your emotions you will be better at identifying when you are feeling them.  If you can spot and notice different emotions within yourself, this will have a big effect on your social life because having a handle on your emotions helps you communicate and connect with others – you can read more about that here.  There are long term benefits too since so much of your life will involve interacting with others in school, at a job and in relationships.

Some of the most common emotions are below.  As you read and watch, think about how emotions are used as a tool to respond to the things that happen around us.
