The Right Fit Quiz helps students, counselors, and families think in depth about whether a particular school is a good “fit” for a student from an academic, personal preference, and emotional standpoint. Students should use this quiz when considering different college options and should also use it as a discussion tool with their families, counselors, mentors, and anyone else advising them on the college admission and decision process.

Starting the Conversation: College and Your Mental Health
This guide, co-created with NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), provides students and their families with vital information about mental health issues that may emerge during college. The guide also walks students and families through some of the privacy laws surrounding mental health and provides families with practical resources to navigate those laws, including authorization forms for release of health information to designated family members that should be accepted by most colleges and universities.

Transition of Care Guide
Primarily written for students with diagnosed mental health conditions and their families, this guide walks through important considerations related to the transition of mental healthcare from home to college. The guide details step students and their families should take during each year of high school and during the transition to college in order to successfully transition their care. While the guide is written with mental health primarily in mind, most of the considerations may also be applicable to transitioning care for other chronic or ongoing health conditions.

First Year College Experience Data Report
This resource reports the findings of foundational research about the transition from high school to college undertaken by The Jed Foundation in partnership with Jordan Porco Foundation and Partnership for Drug-Free Kids and conducted by Harris Poll. Some of the key findings of this research with 1,502 first-year college students in the U.S. include: 60% of those surveyed wished they had received more emotional preparation for college; 87% said more emphasis was placed on academic rather than emotional preparation for college; and 50% reported feeling “stressed” most or all of the time during their first term in college.
JED/WebMD Preparing for College Special Report
This special WebMD website, created in partnership with The Jed Foundation (JED), features Set to Go materials on mental health and preparing for college. The website includes information on a WebMD survey of 700 parents and guardians of high school students and a Medscape survey of 500 health care professionals, including pediatricians, psychiatrists, and psychologists. The website also includes original video content, including first-year college students discussing their transition process and some of the challenges they faced as well as expert advice on how to support teens during this critical transition.

Replete with information about how to look after emotional well-being during this important transition, the action card directs students to helpful tips and resources from Set to Go. This is a great tool for colleges and universities to distribute to all incoming students.
