JED’s searching for freelance Youth Creators.
The Jed Foundation (JED) is a leading nonprofit that protects emotional health and prevents suicide for our nation’s teens and young adults, giving them the skills and support they need to thrive today and tomorrow.
We’re looking for up to four young adults, ages 18 to 30, with a track record of creating compelling digital content and fostering community and deep interest in mental health promotion and advocacy. Selected freelancers will work with JED — and one another — to create social strategies and content, primarily video, that further our mission to protect emotional health and well-being and prevent suicide among our nation’s teens and young adults. The purpose of these efforts is to center youth voices in the conversation around youth mental health and well-being.
Work With Us to Promote Youth Mental Health Well-Being and Suicide Prevention
Creators will be expected to produce one to two videos per month for JED’s social channels. Videos will touch on various mental health topics and themes, as well as mental health, cultural moments, including but not limited to Mental Health Awareness Month in May, Pride Month in June, Minority Mental Health Awareness Month in July, and Suicide Prevention Awareness Month in September. Creators will work collaboratively with JED staff and experts. This is a freelance assignment that pays a flat rate per submission.
You will have an opportunity to positively impact dialogue about youth mental health and emotional well-being. Through this work, JED aims to amplify content that is created by young adults for young adults as they navigate their own mental health.
What You’ll Do:
- Ideate, film, edit, and deliver one to two short-form mental-health-focused videos each month to be featured on JED’s social channels, with a focus on Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and YouTube.
- Follow JED requirements for safe and effective content and community engagement, and JED guidelines for engaging with community members around mental health and suicide.
- Attend monthly briefings with JED subject matter experts and campaign leaders to discuss upcoming campaign goals and objectives, learn about that month’s theme (messaging and content do’s and don’ts), brainstorm concepts, and define deliverables.
- Develop draft scripts and concepts outlining your vision for review and feedback from the JED team.
- Share rough cuts of videos for feedback before finalizing.
- Amplify the content on your owned social media channels and drive users to follow/subscribe to JED social channels.
- Participate in meetings outside of monthly content briefings, as needed.
- Share analytics monthly, including impressions, engagements, views, etc.
- Travel/join key JED events to develop/drive content, as needed.
