What You Need to Know About Sadness and Depression

We often say we’re depressed when what we actually mean is “really sad” or “bummed out.” On the flip side, sometimes we’re actually depressed, but we write the feelings off or don’t think we need or deserve help to feel better. It’s helpful to understand the difference between sadness and depression, so you know how to help yourself—or get help—depending on what you’re going through.

If you are feeling sad or depressed, know that you are not alone and you deserve to feel better. The first step is figuring out what’s behind your feelings and what you can do to manage them or get help to feel better.
