988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline

The new suicide and crisis number—988—is now live.

On July 16, 2022, the U.S. launched a new three-digit phone number, 988, for mental health emergencies. This is a huge step forward in strengthening and expanding the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline.

988 is the new three-digit dialing code where compassionate, accessible care and support are available for those experiencing mental health-related crises—including thoughts of suicide or a substance use crisis.

People can also dial 988 if they are worried about a loved one who may need crisis support. Learn more here or by clicking the links below.
