Intern at JED

If you’re passionate about mental health and suicide prevention, interested in learning more about the nonprofit field, and want to work collaboratively with a team dedicated to building communities of care, a summer internship with The Jed Foundation may be the right fit for you!

The Jed Foundation’s Summer Internship Program offers students from different academic tracks and diverse backgrounds the opportunity to explore all aspects of the nonprofit sector with a full-time, paid internship that may fulfill an intern’s formal education program by integrated coursework or the receipt of academic credit over a ten-week period.

I couldn’t recommend this internship program more. I got to do hands-on analysis with real-world data that has culminated in the foundation for my master’s thesis and an exciting collaboration after the internship. The team is so supportive, knowledgeable, and invested in the development of the interns.
– Jasminder Bains, 2022 Intern

Types of Internships

Interns are recruited to support specific JED departments from Government Affairs and Advocacy to Media Relations to JED’s High School and Higher Education Programs, but they also gain exposure to other aspects of the organization through social events, professional development sessions, and one-on-one meet and greets with JED staff. Interns will collaborate virtually with the JED team and their internship cohort, building bridges as they advance in their career development. Recruitment for JED’s 2023 Summer Internship Program will begin in January 2023, and the program will span ten weeks from June to August.

I was able to meet and work with many interesting, intelligent, and kind-hearted professionals—all connected by their common passion in protecting mental health for teens and young adults.
– Nicholas Cinnamo, 2022 Intern

As a JED intern, you will:

  • Work across the organization while focusing on the areas most relevant to your career goals.

  • Gain knowledge around youth mental health and the nonprofit sector.

  • Have professional development and mentorship opportunities with JED team members.

  • Build community with your fellow interns through project collaborations, virtual social events, and more!

I am forever grateful for the community of mentors and friends that I gained over the summer, as well as the hands-on experiences that I will carry with me in my future career.
– Ella Dennis, 2022 Intern
