Bring a JED Training to Your Campus

Our trainings are designed to be interactive and provide an opportunity for participants to acquire skills, reflect on their attitudes, and learn new behaviors that promote positive mental health and mitigate suicide risk. We’ve engaged over 100,000 students, university and college professionals, families, and community members through virtual and in-person learning experiences. Training topics include:

  • You Can Help: Recognizing signs of distress among teens and young adults
  • Creating an Inclusive Community of Care: Applying principles of culturally responsive support for mental well-being to work with teens and young adults
  • Proud and Thriving: Supporting the mental health and well-being of LGBTQIA+ students
  • Understanding Suicidality in Young Adults: Debunking myths and misconceptions

Join Our Reducing Access to Lethal Means Community of Practice

Join JED and a group of your peers for a deep dive into the science and applied practice of reducing access to lethal means. As a Community of Practice participant, you’ll learn about:

  • The history of lethal means safety, the epidemiology of methods, and why means matter
  • Structural deterrents and policy approaches
  • The applied skills you’ll need to reduce access to lethal means
  • How to identify and layer complementary strategies and scale your school’s work

The five-month Community of Practice includes four virtual sessions, of 90 minutes each, for teaching, discussion, and collaboration; offline activities that encourage you to reflect and take action; and asynchronous interaction with JED staff and other community members. Dr. Kurt Michael, JED’s Senior Clinical Director and an expert in adolescent suicidology and lethal means safety, will lead this dynamic learning experience.

The Reducing Access to Lethal Means Community of Practice runs from January 2025-May 2025 with virtual sessions:

  • April 8, 1-2:30 ET
  • May 20, 1-2:30 ET
