As a high school leader in Washington, you know that fostering students’ emotional well-being is crucial to their ability to thrive in school and beyond. The Jed Foundation (JED) is here to help you transform your current mental health efforts into a robust, comprehensive system of support. Together, we can create a resilient school community for all students.

JED High School is a three-year partnership tailored to meet your school’s needs offered to a select number of schools across Washington State. The program helps your school build a comprehensive system of mental health and suicide prevention. Our Washington-based expert team assesses your school’s needs and partners with you to collaboratively develop a customized strategic plan. Then, leveraging your existing strengths, we help you implement evidence-based, data-driven practices to create a truly connected school community with more supportive school mental health systems. JED’s mission is to fully support you in making meaningful, sustainable, and measurable improvements in the well-being of your school community.

How the Partnership Works

  • Your school creates a steering committee to work on the JED High School program.
  • Your school completes three initial surveys and assessments:
    • JED High School Self-Assessment, which evaluates school policies, programs, and systems that promote student mental health
    • JED High School Student Survey, which assesses student attitudes, awareness, and behaviors related to mental health
    • JED High School Staff and Faculty Assessment, which assesses awareness of the school’s practices and efforts supporting student mental health and perceptions about campus support for employee well-being.
  • Your school receives a comprehensive feedback report from JED with recommendations for enhancement based on the data collected from the surveys and assessments.
  • Your school is assigned a Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Consultant who provides customized support and technical assistance throughout the 36-month program.
  • Your school completes a second round of surveys and assessments.
  • Your school receives a detailed summary report from JED with pre- and post-data analysis, highlighting the impact of system changes on student outcomes.
  • Your school participates in the JED High School Learning Community with other JED High Schools, consisting of webinars, monthly newsletters, and other learning opportunities.
  • Your school has access to a comprehensive online resource library with sample policies, programs, educational campaigns, research, and professional journal articles.

We’re partnering with high schools and colleges to strengthen their mental health, substance misuse, and suicide prevention programs and systems. We’re equipping teens and young adults with the skills and knowledge to help themselves and each other. We’re encouraging community awareness, understanding, and action for young adult mental health.
