Student Mental Health and the Law – A Decade Later: Part 2

Over a decade ago, JED published “Student Mental Health and the Law,” which discusses the legal issues that colleges and universities face while addressing campus mental health and working with students in distress. In the second webinar of a two-part series, JED will be joined by Peter Lake, JD (professor of law, Charles A. Dana Chair and Director of the Center for Excellence in Higher Education Law and Policy at Stetson University College of Law, and Senior Higher Education Consulting Attorney with Steptoe & Johnson LLP) and our very own Victor Schwartz, MD (Chief Medical Officer at The Jed Foundation), who will help us continue to understand the landscape of mental health law in higher education. Lake and Schwartz will take questions and feedback from Part 1 webinar attendees and address key principles and recommendations that colleges and universities should consider in developing policies and protocols surrounding campus mental health. They will dive deeper into the ‘good practices’ described in “Student Mental Health and the Law” and help colleges and universities think through the application of these practices for campuses of different size, region, type, as well as other factors.
