We all experience sadness when something occurs to cause us emotional pain. Sadness is a universal emotion felt by everyone. Things that can bring on sadness include breakups, failing an exam, arguing with friends, or major life transitions. While sadness can feel isolating, it’s important to remember that everyone goes through moments and periods of sadness, and that it’s temporary.

How to cope with sadness

Coping with sadness is different for everyone. Your level of sadness can also vary depending on the incident that brought on the sadness and your own coping tools. Typically, small lifestyle changes and better self-care habits can make us feel better when we’re sad.
